The Academic Pathway Program is a small-group English and Maths program designed to support students from Year 2 to Year 10 at every stage of their learning journey.

Whether your child needs to strengthen foundational skills, prepare for NAPLAN, build confidence in the classroom, or extend their learning beyond the school curriculum, our experienced teachers provide targeted instruction in a supportive and engaging environment.

With small class sizes, structured lessons, regular assessment, and personalised feedback, students receive the guidance they need to make meaningful academic progress.

We also offer small group classes for VCE subjects, including English, Mathematical Methods, Chemistry, General Mathematics and Biology.

How does the Academic Pathway Program support preparation for academic exams (e.g. Scholarships, SEAL, SEHS)?

Many students aiming for academic scholarships, SEAL programs, or Selective Entry High Schools begin by strengthening their core English and Maths skills first. The Academic Pathway Program builds the knowledge, confidence, and problem-solving ability that students need before moving into a dedicated exam preparation program.

Through targeted learning, regular assessment, and personalised feedback, students develop the essential literacy and numeracy skills that underpin success in competitive academic testing. When the time is right, students can then transition into one of our specialised Exam Preparation Programs, where the focus shifts to exam strategy, advanced question types, and test-taking techniques.

Maths: 

Our Level 6 Mathematics program bridges the transition to secondary mathematics by developing students' understanding of number relationships, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, financial maths and algebraic thinking. Students learn to analyse problems, apply multiple solution strategies and communicate mathematical reasoning with increasing sophistication through challenging, engaging learning experiences. Term 4 will focus on building specific skills and conceptual understanding for NAPLAN assessment for Year 7 the following year and are Victorian Curriculum V2.0 aligned.

 

English:

Our Level 6 English program supports students as they transition towards secondary literacy expectations. Students analyse texts in greater depth, evaluate ideas, develop persuasive arguments and improve their ability to communicate effectively for different audiences and purposes. Reading, writing and language skills are integrated to create confident and capable communicators.

Maths: 

​​Our Level 7 Mathematics program introduces students to the rigour of secondary mathematics while maintaining a strong focus on confidence and understanding. Students explore rational numbers, algebra, geometry, measurement, statistics and probability through investigations and problem-solving challenges. Emphasis is placed on reasoning, mathematical communication and applying mathematics to authentic contexts.

 
In Term 4, many year 7 students will have end of year examinations for the first time after their first year of high school. Students will have the opportunity to prepare for exams through exam-like questions and consolidate their understanding of Victorian Curriculum V2.0 Level 7 and prepare for Level 8.

 

English:

Our Level 7 English program introduces students to advanced text analysis and critical literacy. Students explore themes, author perspectives and the ways language influences audiences. Through reading, discussion and writing activities, students develop analytical thinking, persuasive communication and the ability to engage thoughtfully with a range of texts.
