Tuition Terms and Conditions of Sale - 2019

Private Tuition at Hendersons Educational Services is for students in years 3-12 seeking support and/or extension in Maths and English and is provided one on one with an appropriately qualified and experienced teacher. The availability of teachers is limited, and we allocate places based on those who are first to secure a time and date. Tuition is held between 4:15 and 8:15 Monday to Thursday and each class is one hour in duration. 

Private tuition can only be purchased as a single term package ranging from 7 to 9 weeks in duration (dependent upon the length of the school term). Prices will vary depending on the length of each tuition term, with current prices available on our website.

Full payment is required 14 days prior to the first week of Tuition and no refunds will be issued, for any reason, after the start of the term.

As a courtesy to your child’s teacher, we do ask parents/guardians to contact the office to advise us if their child will not be attending a session.

Please note that no tuition is held on public holidays, or during school holidays. We advise all clients that our calendar is aligned with Victorian Government School term dates. Hendersons Individual Tuition always commences during the second week of the school term.

We also advise all customers that tuition cannot be held outside of Hendersons head office, located at 391-393 Tooronga Road, Hawthorn East.

Cancellation of a class:  

  • If you arrive after the scheduled start of tuition, the session will not be extended, and no refund will be given.
  • Hendersons cannot be held responsible for any difficulties preventing you from arriving on time for tuition, even where those circumstances were not directly within your control (for example, unforeseen changes in work or personal circumstances, inclement weather, or poor traffic.
  • In the event Hendersons is unable to provide you with a teacher on any given occasion, we will arrange another lesson at the earliest convenience of both student and teacher.

Parent responsibilities

  • Teachers are only available to discuss your child’s needs or progress within your hourly session. This usually takes place within the first (or last) 5-10 minutes of your child’s session.
  • It is the responsibility of parents/guardians to ensure staff can contact them during all scheduled tuition.
  • Students with a medical condition or illness please refer to Par 6.1 of our Terms and conditions of Sale.
     - 6.1 Hendersons request parents/guardians to refrain from sending their child to a session, when they are too unwell to learn. The teacher of an individual workshop has the right to refuse to teach a child who they believe is too unwell to proceed. In such circumstances, the parent will be called and will be required to collect their child immediately. No refund will apply. See item 4.3 for cancellation where a medical certificate has been provided.

Allergy Management

  • Hendersons will provide a safe environment for all students.
  • If the student suffers from an allergy, Hendersons must be notified. We will not accept any child unless a parent/guardian has provided a ‘Medical Action Plan’ and signed a Hendersons Medical consent form, allowing us to administer medication. A Hendersons staff member must sight the medication on each visit, prior to the child entering the classroom.
  • Hendersons staff will only administer medication prescribed by a medical practitioner. Allergy management and the well-being of a child with allergy reactions is the primary responsibility of the child’s parent/guardian.

Hendersons Educational Services makes every effort to ensure that course information supplied is correct at all times. It reserves the right to change the location of private tuition sessions, fees and tutors, when and if necessary. All attempts will be made to notify enrolled students of changes.
